Watching my diet by eating food using dietary guidelines with USDA suggested nutritional value was a major step forward in my recovery from depression. I stopped eating fake foods with artificial flavors and colors. I gave up fast food, frozen and other processed foods; food with incredients I didn't understand. This step forced me to cook my own balanced meals with ninety percent organic and natural ingredients. Instead of soft drinks, sports drinks and fruit juices with high-fructose corn syrup, sugar substitutes, preservatives and other ingredients. I drink water and green tea unsweetened. You get use to it fairly quickly with a positive attitude. I ate more vegetables and fruit instead of brownies and cakes. I allow myself to have daily cup of coffee with half a teaspoon of organic sugar, ice cream and a sweetened beverage once a week.

When you remember the past too much you don't heal and this can lead to depression. When you try to view the future too much, it can cause anxiety. But when you live in the Now; it makes you feel right; glad to be living in the moment.

"Be Here Now is all about being present and not fearing what you don't know."

- Andy Whitfield

You must find a way to live well even if you don't get the proper guidance from your parents because you are the one who is responsible for your own life and the decisions you make. How you manage your expectations is the secret to happiness and finding peace in your life. One perspective at a time. Happiness and peace are for those who seek it. You are not alone and you are not forgotten. Your life will improve. Take control of your life and be a survivor. Talk to someone who cares. Call 800-273-TALK (8255).

I want to reach out to those who are down, sad, hopeless, in pain and those who think life is no longer worth living. I want you to know that you are not alone in your experience. Where to get more information and support can be critical. Your feelings and questions will not go away quickly. When you do something to effect a positive change in your life. You will feel better and not feel as hopeless. What I have learned from my personal experience can give you new hope.
