Watching my diet by eating food using dietary guidelines with USDA suggested nutritional value was a major step forward in my recovery from depression. I stopped eating fake foods with artificial flavors and colors. I gave up fast food, frozen and other processed foods; food with ingredients I didn’t understand.
This step forced me to cook my own balanced meals with ninety percent organic and natural ingredients. Instead of soft drinks, sports drinks and fruit juices with high-fructose corn syrup, sugar substitutes, preservatives and other ingredients. I drink water and green tea unsweetened. You get use to it fairly quickly with a positive attitude. I ate more vegetables and fruit instead of brownies and cakes. I allow myself to have daily cup of coffee with half a teaspoon of organic sugar, ice cream and a sweetened beverage once a week.

When you remember the past too much you don’t heal and this can lead to depression. When you try to view the future too much, it can cause anxiety. But when you live in the Now; it makes you feel right; glad to be living in the moment.
